I will creating my first film work especially for a fantastic event titled '13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird'.

‘13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird’ is a one evening art event at Soho Theatre, Greater London, analysing diverse ways in which upcoming artists explore how one perceive art in the contemporary world today. Surveillance, voyeurism, mechanical, biological, observation, self awareness, longingly imagined are all too real being created by this object; the eye. WARRIORS EXHIBITION
13th April to 14th May 2010

Open daily 2pm to 6pm – Free entrance

Private View: Thursday 15 April 2010, 6-9pm

In a world where individuals are constantly striving to fight for purpose and meaning where once established conventions are now torn. The original concept of a ‘Warrior’ has now had to fight for its own meaning and the once war determined ideology has had to force itself into new armour.

A newly formed independent curator team are bringing together their own cultural flares and experiences to produce this complex and challenging topic. Taking inspiration from the way the ideology of the warrior has ingratiated itself into various avenues of culture, including the rugby world where the inimitable 'Haka' is still used to intimidate opponents before taking the field for battle. This now iconic routine has inspired the curatorial team, Helen Batley, Nami Chikhlia and Jennifer Elder, having met and trained at Central Saint Martins to produce an extravaganza of Warriors in all their newly evolved glory.

Artists have come together with their own cultural awareness, this subjective topic has leapt out at individuals. By producing 3D, 2D and interpretative dance as this ‘Warriors’ exhibition has defeated any pre conceived ideas you are going to have. ‘Warriors’ can be drawn out from the individual and their own battles within themselves and their lives. Walking into this exhibition will invite voyeurs to observe how these young artists have taken up the subject matter and trophies their battles/journeys into art.

List of artists: Ramona Barsalona, Helen Batley, Nami Chikhlia, Emily Taylor, Joanna Western, Alex Witt, Kayleigh Witt, Chutima Kerdpitak, Haribaabu Naatesan, Katia Hickmer, Damien Jeffrey and Alexander Augustus Greenhalgh.

PRESS RELEASE

10 Dec - 21 Dec, 2009
Private View 9 Dec, 18:30 - 20:30

As the Christmas lights are switched on, The Brick Lane Gallery is proud to announce its last show before the holiday, the up-coming ‘Art in Mind’, opening on 9 December and running through 21 December. The exhibition will include illustration, photography, paintings from twelve talented emerging artists.

Compared to previous exhibitions, we bring together works of more geographically and theoretically diverse artists with different styles. The Australian artist James Cochran presents his special drip painting of different angles of London underground. At the same time, you can also see German artist Eva-Maria Salm’s large-size oil painting of examining female body with bold color. The paintings of New Forest landscape from Pete Gilbert, project personal feeling on the nature, creating something more than just snap shots. However, not only paintings are featured in this show. Katia Hickmer’s photographs use the relationship between family members to find the identity of herself.

The exhibition features brilliant works by Devra Wiseman, Habib Diab, Raphael Perez Langowski, Pete Gilbert, Pilar Mackenna, Vitor Cervi, James Cochran, George Pergamalis, Fredrik Flink, Katia Hickmer, Saroj Patel and Eva-Maria Salm.

‘Art in Mind’ is an ongoing group exhibition organized by The Brick Lane Gallery, offering emerging artists a platform to showcase their work to a fresh and growing London audience.

The Brick Lane Gallery is situated on East London’s famous Brick Lane, exhibiting an eclectic variety of contemporary and street art by British and International artists, focusing mainly on emerging and mid-career artists.

NOT A F******* ART SHOW!
5th-10th March 2009, the Electricians Shop at Trinity Buoy Wharf.

Coinciding with International Women’s Day on the 8th March a group of sixteen artists are exhibiting a diverse collection of work that focuses on the "fairer sex" without using the "f" word. This exhibition offers a platform to discuss a variety of questions such as: How are contemporary artists portraying women in a post-feminist society? Can work themed around the female avoid being pigeon-holed as feminist? How is work viewed when gathered under the category of one gender? How do young female artists feel about feminism? What will male artists do when asked to contribute to a female exhibition? Is feminism still a dirty word?
